After a long search, I finally found a cigar box with the right dimensions at Davidus Cigars this morning. It would have been nice to find a vintage box, but I wasn’t having much luck on ebay with that. The bottom (top of the uke) is plied, so it will be a little soft sounding if not plugged into an amp, but that’s OK.
I’ll work on this cigar box uke over the next 2 to 3 weeks. I’ll be in touch Lou.
