Making a Cigar Box Uke

I’ve been asked by my brother in-law to make him a cigar box ukulele for his birthday, which is on October 10’th. He plays in a band in the mid-west. I found a good box, and purchased mother of pearl pegs, good hardware, and a mahogany neck. I’ll start it tomorrow by shaping the neck. I also purchased a soprano neck and hardware for my future use.

I’ll make a pick-up out of a Radio Shack buzzer. I’ll post a video on how to do that if anyone is interested. You can make one for five dollars, which is a lot cheaper then buying one.
